What is a Doula (Birth Companion)
A women who mothers the mother during pregnancy and child birth and supports her emotional needs.(Often busy midwives are unable to provide emotional support for a labouring woman and knowing the person that will be attending your birth is crucial to mum feeling comfortable and confident during the birth)
Evidence shows that:
women supported by a doula have up to 50% reduction in c-section rates.
25% shorter labour for 1st time mothers.
60% reduction in epidural requests.
40% reduction the use of artificial Oxytocin (iv).
30% reduction in the use of forsept delivery.
